Below as before with our first litter we hope to keep you updated on how the puppies are doing with new photo's of them as they grow up.

Houndsbay Eros (Bilbo).....

....has gone to an experienced basset home, and to a wonderful couple who already have an elderly basset called Rudy. He wasn't very impressed to start off with, having this young whipper snapper around but, as you can see from the photos he is good friends with Bilbo now..

Bilbo's new owners have decided to have a go at showing him (me doing the handling), so he will be making his show debut later in the year with his sister Houndsbay Gertrude (Gertie for short).

23/10/2005 - Bilbo is doing really well and his owners have entered him in the last champ show of the year LKA, so it will be a bit of a family reunion with his sister Gertie and Isabel, we are really looking forward to seeing them both.

11/12/2005 - Unfortunately Bilbo decided he wasn't ready for the show ring and didn't make it to LKA after all. Although he is a very handsome young man, his owners said he wasn't very happy with all the stacking and training that is required for the ring, as showing really isn't that important to us, it certainly isn't worth making him do something he doesn't want!!!

06/03/2006 - We received this photo of Bilbo at 9 months, out on his walk and he is looking great. Apparently he is always on the go, and keeps his owners on their toes from early morning till late evening, but they say he is such a loving cuddly boy.

30/05/2006 - These new photos of Bilbo were sent to us today, he has turned into a very handsome young dog. He is so very much loved by his owners and they say he is a real nut case!! Happy Birthday Bilbo.

30/01/2007 - Here are 2 new photo's of Bilbo. His owner was so impressed with Lily's portrait by David Dowbyhuz that he has contacted him and commissioned a painting of Bilbo. He has promised to send us updates on the progress of the print once David starts on it.

28/07/2007 - Here is the finished painting of Bilbo.

01/04/2008 - One new photo of Bilbo.

Houndsbay Desdemona (Daisy)....

....is also going to live with experienced basset owners who not so long ago lost their two old girls, so felt enough time had elapsed for them to think about having a basset again.

Daisy will be living in a beautiful seaside village in Scotland, her new owners only live a few yards from a beautiful beach, so when she is bigger she will be enjoying lovely long walks. She will also be going on holiday to the beautiful Highlands of Scotland, so we are hoping to get some great photos of her (plus the scenery!).

23/10/2005 - Daisy is doing well and has been enjoying the odd walk on the beach which is near her home, she has also become well known in her village were she lives.

11/12/2005 - Daisy is doing really well, we have some new photos of her on the beach, one of her favourite pastimes is sitting in her special chair looking out of the window at the world going by.

06/03/2006 - Here are some new photo's of Daisy, taken on one of her recent outings to the beach.

08/06/2006 - We received a new photo of Daisy today, she looks really well and has grown so much since her last photo. She has a super life, she enjoys sunning herself in the garden now the nicer weather has arrived, has long walks on the beach and an evening walk to the local pub. Ah, its a dogs life!!!

05/05/2007 - We received 2 new photo's of Daisy/. She has certainly matured into a very elegant and beautiful young lady. She is pictured here enjoying a picnic with her family over the Easter period (followed by a nice long walk in the country), the second picture is a very tired Daisy!

03/01/2008 - One new photo of Daisy added.

Houndsbay Othello (Lewis)....

A Photo of Lewis A Photo of Lewis A Photo of Lewis A Photo of Lewis

....went to a first time basset home (we all have to start somewhere!). They are a lovely family who had done their research on the breed, so we felt happy they could offer him a good home. As with all our puppies we will be on hand to give advice and help if needed. Lewis has settled in very well, and has already become a firm member of the family.

We've had a couple of photos from Lewis's family, and he's is doing really well and as you can see. He certainly has turned into a very handsome young man.

20/12/2005 - Lewis is doing fine, his owners tell us he just loves his food!!! He would have 6 meals a day if he was allowed, sounds like a typical basset.

He isn't so keen on his walks though, especially when its raining, but enjoys them when all the family go with him. He is into everything and is always on the look out to see if he can get involved in something. In general he is happy and healthy and a very big part of his new family.

20/06/2006 - We received 2 new photos of Lewis today, he has certainly grown into a very handsome Basset and his colouring is quite unusual...he apparently hates the rain. He loves playing football with the younger members of his family and according to his owners has excellent ball control so watch out Beckham & Rooney!!!

Houndsbay Horatio (Harvey) & Houndsbay Ophelia (Phoebe)....

A Photo of Harvey & Phoebe A Photo of Harvey & Phoebe A Photo of Harvey & Phoebe A Photo of Harvey & Phoebe A Photo of Harvey & Phoebe A Photo of Harvey & Phoebe

....went to a home experienced with bassets.. they are doing really well in fact thriving, on their first visit to the vets Harvey weighed in at 8.8 kg and Phoebe weighed in at 7.7 kg! Harvey apparently is a real gentleman and has won the heart of the resident basset Rosie. Phoebe is apparently quite a tear away but Rosie has taken her under her wing and they are now firm friends.

29/10/2005 - We have just received these smashing photos of Harvey & Phoebe. We have been blown away by how stunning Harvey has turned out, he is the image of his Dad and Phoebe is so much like her Mum and Grandmother its untrue! Apparently she is a real tear away and enjoys their walks to the local park, and loves going off and exploring and getting up to all kinds of mischief; her owners say she is a real handful but they adore her.

Harvey just walks by his mum side and is so calm and laid back and would actually prefer to stay at home on the sofa! We are so pleased at how all our pups have settled into their new homes, and we are so grateful to their owners for sending us such great photos and giving us updates on how they are all doing.

11/12/2005 - Harvey & Phoebe are also thriving the new photo sent by their owners amazed us at how much Phoebe is like her mum Dru, it was like looking at a photo of her? Harvey is as handsome as ever and they both have good appetites.

06/03/2006 - Here are some new photo's of Harvey & Phoebe at 9 months. They both look so well and happy with great body weight for pups of their age. The one of Harvey on the little hill is apparently his favourite spot in the park when they go for their walk, he likes to climb on to it then pounce on Phoebe & Rosie hence the pose!!

30/05/2006 - These wonderful new photo's of Harvey & Phoebe came to us today. They are looking really good, they had their first holiday in the Black Mountains recently and had a great time as you can see from the photos. Phoebe is still full of mischief (just like her sister Gertie) and Harvey is just happy to enjoy his food and sleeping on the sofa. His owners say he would be very lazy if it wasn't for Phoebe egging him on and getting him into all kinds of trouble.

17/10/2006 - Here is a new photo of phoebe sharing her bed with her doggie companion Dexter. Somehow I don't think there is going to be much room for both of them soon!!

20/02/2007 - 4 new photos added.

28/06/2007 - 2 new photos added.

Houndsbay Yorick (Freddie)....

A Photo of Freddie A Photo of Freddie A Photo of Freddie A Photo of Freddie A Photo of Freddie A Photo of Freddie

....this little man will always have a special place in our heart, it was very hard to let him go to his new home even though we knew he was going to be very much loved and have a new basset friend called Bertie who happens to be his half brother! At the age of around 6 weeks old he developed a condition called 'Juvenile Cellulitis' more commonly know as 'puppy strangles' See photo) this condition is to do with the puppies immune system basically not coping as well as it should and their little faces become very swollen as do their glands and it is very unpleasant and upsetting to see them this way, as you just feel so helpless as you are waiting for the treatment to work. Although the puppies continue to be ok in themselves and continue to eat their little faces become sore with horrible pustules. Vets do not know a great deal about this condition or what really causes it and why usually only one puppy seems to come down with it, the treatment is antibiotics and Cortico Steroids. The puppies make a full recovery and go on to lead a normal happy life..We have had some wonderful photo's of Freddie since he went to his new home and as you can see he is very happy.

23/10/2005 - We have had some gorgeous photo's from Freddie's owners and he is doing so well, Freddie and his friend Bertie are inseparable and he still has the most cutest little face ever!

12/12/2005 - Little Freddie is doing really well and he still has the cutest face ever!! He enjoys his walks, although being a typical basset doesn't like going out when it's raining.

06/03/2006 - Here are some new photos of Freddie that we received from his owners, they tell us he is a little minx and very mischievous. I think you can see from the glint in his eye this is the case, he has still kept his cute little face, he is such a sweetie. He is another pup that is the image of his mum Dru, I think even more so that his sister Phoebe, who also looks like her.

2/06/2006 - 3 new photos were sent to us of little Freddie on his 1st birthday, apparently he had a party with cake, presents and everything. He just gets cuter each time we see a new photo of him, he's such a sweet little man. Happy birthday Freddie.

14/07/2007 - 4 new photos of Freddie added.

01/03/2008 - 3 new photos of Freddie added.

Houndsbay Beatrice (Isabel)....

A Photo of Isabel A Photo of Isabel A Photo of Isabel A Photo of Isabel A Photo of Isabel A Photo of Isabel

....went to live in London. She has settled in very well and has a new friend Tallulah, who was an only basset so was at first not so keen, but has gradually come round and now they are great friends. I have been told by Isabel's new owners she snuggles up with them at night time in bed! So, it sounds as though this little girl is going to be very spoilt.

23/10/05 - Isabel's owners says she is doing really well, and we are really excited to learn they will be coming to the last big champ show of the year, LKA with Isabel who they have entered NFC (not for competition), so we can see her, so we are really looking forward to this.

09/11/05 - We had a visit from Isabel and her owners on 6th November which was very enjoyable. Gertie wasn't too sure at first, and I am not sure she recognised her as her sister, but after about 5 minutes they were playing and having great fun.

Isabel looked very well and is a real live wire! Dru wanted to see her, I honestly think she did recognise her as her baby and I believe Isabel recognised her as her mum too, as she became very submissive when Dru entered the room. Her owners say she has never acted like this with another dog, it was a really sweet moment to see them together again.

We have taken some video footage and will be putting this on our video page in the next few weeks

16/04/06 - We had another lovely visit from Isabel and her owners and her basset friend Tallulah. We had a smashing day out at the Kelmarsh Country fair(see photo), from left to right is Dru, Jake, Gertie, Tallulah and Isabel. All the hounds enjoyed themselves, meeting all the other dogs there, which where mainly Gundogs. Then we went back to our house for lunch and the hounds all enjoyed themselves playing in the garden.

We will also be adding some new video footage shortly to our site of this super day.

02/06/2006 - Isabel recently enjoyed her first Holiday in Cornwall, she even learned how to swim! She had a great time and we wish her a happy first birthday.

30/01/2007 - We have received a new photo of Isabel.

27/10/2007 - 3 new photos of Isabel added.

28/11/2007 - 1 new photos of Isabel added.
