Here are a few video clips of Ivan - Clip 1, Clip 2, Clip 3.
14 November 2009 - We are planning our next litter for early 2010. We will be mating Gertie
when she next comes into season (around Dec/Jan time), this will be her
second and final litter.
The Sire will be announced once pregnancy is confirmed. We have already started vetting people for this litter, so if you are interested please contact us either on Tel: 01536 760304 or via our contact enquiry form.

05 September 2009 - Houndsbay Xaphan (George) & Houndsbay Jezebeth (Nelly) had their first show on 4/9/09 at the City of Birmingham champ show. The judge was Mrs V. Phillips.
George was in a tough class as unfortunatly at this show there was no Minor puppy, so we had to enter the pups in the Puppy class. George had pups in his class that were a lot older and more mature than him, so on this occasion he only got a VHC but he enjoyed his day out.
Nelly got a 1st even though there were older puppies in her class, she looked so tiny up against the other pups but obviously the judge saw something in her she liked. She got beaten for BP by the puppy dog who was much more mature, a very nice pup he was too. We didn't mind though as we were delighted with her just winning her class and qualifying for Crufts on her first time out!!
Dylan also did very well and won his class so a good day all round.
If you want to see the video of George and Nelly at their first show you can find it on our Video page.

10 August 2009 - Archie has now found a nice new home.
28 July 2009 - We have a 5 month old, male Tri colour pup that has unexpectedly become available from our March 2009 litter. Archie needs a permanent loving home ASAP. Ideally we would prefer that he went to an experienced basset home if at all possible. Genuine enquires only please, for more info on Archie please contact us on 01536 760304.
Here's a video clip of archie.
As with all our pups he carry's KC endorsements.
16 July 2009 - We went to the SBHC Garden Party & Fun day on Sunday 12th July. Some of the pups came along from our last litter as well as some from previous litters, it was lovely to see them all together again. The best part of the day for us was the Baby Basset Parade, all 5 pups in the ring were Houndsbay babies which made us feel very proud. Alfie won 1st place Nelly was 2nd, Tilly 3rd, Jefferson 4th and Matilda 5th.
Here is a video clip from the day.
08 July 2009 - The MBHC had their working scent trials on 5th July, it was a fantastic day out. Dylan and Dru both completed their 100 yards scent trail in the Beginners Class and were awarded a card for completing the trail. A few of our puppy people also turned up, it was nice to see them all.
Here are some photo's of the day, or you can also see a Video Clip.
17 June 2009 - We had a fantastic day at the BHC champ show with Dylan winning the RDCC under judge Mr Ken Mclean. A big thank you to him for thinking so highly of Dylan.
19 May 2009 - The Midland Basset hound club are holding a working trials event on July 5th. Why not come along for a great day out and a chance to work your hound and show that Bassets are 'Fit for purpose'.
06 May 2009 - Those of you who know us and are familiar with our website, know that we have strong views on complete pet foods and what the big food manufactures 'claim' goes into your pets food when in fact 90% of all pet food on the market are full of cheap fillers, meat derivatives (which could be anything) as well as toxic chemicals such as BHA & BHT which are used as additives and preservatives, which incidentally have been banned in human food some years ago as they have been proven to cause cancer, so our question is why are these big food companies still being allowed to use these product in our pet foods?
Its no coincidence that vets have seen a huge increase in cancer in our pets in the last 10 years or so. Please take a look at this link http://www.crpf.org.uk/ a website set up by TV vet Joe Inglis he is trying to launch a campaign to help make pet owners and breeders aware of how important it is to ensure your pet is fed a 'real food diet'. We feed our hounds Burns complete and moist food http://www.burnspet.co.uk which is a food created by a vet John Burns a number of years ago. He also realised all the health problems he was seeing were mainly being caused by diet such as skin problems, food intolerances, cancer and behavioural problems. Burns food is holistic, safe for your pet, full of only natural additives & preservatives such as Rosemary oil and Vitamin E, they also use real meat not derivatives.
We do have a detailed Pet food report in the form of a PDF file if you would like to know more about what exactly is going into your pets food please contact us via our contact enquiry form and we would be more than happy to email it to you.
29 April 2009 - We still have one Black Blanket Bitch available from this litter, she will be 8 weeks old on 28th April and will have her first vaccination. Please feel free to contact us for further information regarding this litter.
This pup has now found a home.
19 April 2009 - Our good friend Dr.Jon Buscall in Sweden still has two stunning puppies looking for a home a dog and a bitch. They are 13 weeks old and fully vaccinated, he can be contacted through his website: www.bassethounds.nu

15 March 2009 - Gertie & Dylan's litter will be coming up to 2 weeks old on the 17th March.
The pups are growing fast and all doing well. Gertie is doing a grand job, we are very proud of her, she has made a super mum.
This litter will be 8 weeks old at the end of April. Please feel free to contact us for further information if you are interested in one of these pups. All the bitches are now spoken for but we do have 3 male pups still available.

15 March 2009 - Our good friend Dr Jon Buscall at Bjorkwood basset hounds in Sweden, still has pups available from this gorgeous litter.
These pups were 9 weeks old on 11/03/09 so are ready to go to their new homes now. If you are interested in one of these pups and live in Sweden or Norway then please contact Jon directly via his website.

04 March 2009 - After a very long labour Gertie managed to whelp 8 pups on her own then ran into difficulties, one pup had managed to get twisted in the birth canal and was blocking any other pups from coming through so unfortunately she had to have a caesarean for the rest of the pups.
The pup that had become twisted sadly died, but all in all we have 11, yes 11 pups!! They are all very active and have good appetites. We have 7 boys and 4 girls, one open Tri boy the rest are more solid in colouring Dylan certainly put his stamp on this litter as I think most of the pups are going to be solid Tri's like him, although the odd pup may well stay black as Dylan's Grandfather and Great Grandfather on his mothers side are Black Blankets.
Please feel free to contact us for more info on this litter we are currently compiling our waiting list and in the process of vetting people.
As with all our pups they will carry KC endorsements.

11 February 2009 - We are delighted to announce that Houndsbay Gertrude (Gertie) is expecting her first litter on or around March 5th. She was mated to Houndsbay Wild Hearted Son (Dylan).
We decided not to have an ultrasound scan done on this occasion but as I write this Gertie will be 6 weeks into her pregnancy, all indications are good that she is in whelp. She has filled out quite a bit and is looking very round.
We have a number of people on our waiting list for this litter already, so if you are interested in one of these pups then please contact us for further information. Please note as with our previous litters these future pups will carry KC endorsements.
